A Thesbian in a Cowboy Hat

Kel has been working really hard lately. It isn't a paid position. Doesn't bring home the bacon. However, he smiles alot. Coming off a great run of "You Can't Take it With you," he signed up for Annie get your gun. A singing, dancing theatrical production.
Along with my mom and sister, I saw it on Saturday. The cast did a fabulous job and we enjoyed the production. The play started at 8 pm to a full house (standing room only...there there was some standing going on).

Kel brought to the stage a lively, genuine, funny, and entertaining Charlie Davenport. Each time he was in a scene, the stage seemed to brighten a bit...could have been me, but in my eyes he was the center attraction.
Sat night I spent a little over 2 hours in Buffalo Bill's wild west show enjoying pistol and shotgun antics following the love story between two competitive strong personalities, and watching Charle Davenport manipulate the cast in order for the show to go on. A fun time.
Kel, thanks for bringing music and dancing in my life. Gotta go hum now..."there's no bizness like show bizness...there's no bizness I know...."

Fitness for Agility

Another week. Another 1.8 pounds.
I'm fitting into pants that I haven't been able to put on in years. It is a good feeling. Unfortunately, it makes me feel slimmer than I am. This results in a loss of focus. After looking at the videos of me running this week, I've come a long way, but I have a long way to go and I must not loose focus.
Alot of people talk about plateaus. I don't think I've every really hit a plateau before, I'm either doing really well or I'm not. In my mind, when I hear people talk about plateaus, I've always thought of a plateaus as eatting right and working out but not getting anywhere (the body is stuck). But I think that I am in a mental plateau. I am happy with the results and maybe lack a little motivation to move forward. That's how I've been feeling. I'm not cheating, but maybe not working as hard as I know I can. The result is that I'm not moving in the direction I want as fast as I know I can.
This week I'm free jumping. I climbed the plateau and now I'm jumping off.

Even my backyard is looking healthy...

Apples, 3 different kinds, but only one seems to have fruit this year. Come by in July and August for some yummy treats.
Pear Plums. Not very large (about the size of a large grape) but extremely flavorful. These ripen around July.
Walnuts, we hardly ever get these as the squirrels have them hidden before we realize they are ripe. But I'm picking them a little early and will see what happens.

Pears. This year will be a bumper crop. I don't usually eat alot of pears, but I'd better prepare myself as we have about a billion!
Lemons. Great as a splash in a glass of water over ice on those warm summer days.
Purple plums. Melt in your mouth.
Apricots. Need I say more?

The tomatoes are looking mighty fierce this year. I've already eaten two of the sweet one hundreds...looking forward to a summer full of fresh tomatoes on everything.

A video to make you smile.

Falling down in Team standard. I remember it much worse than it looks. I would have sworn my chin hit the ground, but no, it was only a knee and hand. I'm convinced it was the shoes. It is a new pair of trail runners...grey and pink, very stylish and probably good for trail running...but not for front crosses.

Monday I was at class and wore the shoes again, and fell down as I turned to go on the field...the shoe sort stuck in the grass. Yes, totally the shoe. Couldn't be that I'm a clutz.

I saved it by having her sit...

USDAA May 30-31

Team Snooker on Sunday. Thanks Laura for the great plan. Thanks Fin for making the execution of it fast and furious.

Advanced Standard - last leg needed for AAD. Not the cleanest run, but we had fun and made it through. We will need to clean up our act for Masters.

A fun two days.

Those Dam Teams!

A weekend of Agility started out a little rocky and ended with a victory drive home.

We begin Sat Morning by finding out our agility friends Mike and Cheri lost their dog Risk Friday night. He started his run, stopped, walked out of the ring, collapsed and was dead 4 hours later. Turns out he had a tumor on his spleen. My heart is breaking for Mike and Cheri and all of us hug our dogs. I am thankful once again for my good fortune of living with 4 wonderful dogs.

It was hard after finding out the sad news, but the show did go on. Fin did Q in standard, received her AAD (Advanced Agility Dog Title), but we didn't Q in Grand Prix. Gamblers went as expected. Working those contacts. I'm thankful for Gamblers because without it, we would not have had contacts for Sunday Team.

Before Steeplechase, Havoc came down (or should I say came up?) with something. She was really sick and Lord was it messy! We did have our friend who is a vet friend come take her temp and make sure it wasn't an emergency. She felt Havoc was not in immediate distress, but I was worried about the heat. After thinking about it for about a minute, we made the call to just load up the dogs, turn on the air conditioning, and go home missing the steeplechase (there will be other steeplechase...but there is only one Havoc).

We had already checked into our hotel and luckily we found someone who could use it. (Ended up there was a party in the room above and she had a rocky nights sleep. I slept like the angels in my bed at home).

Next morning up at 4:45 for the drive to agility. This time we left Havoc at home with dad and SpaceMonkey got to spend the day with us.

DAM team was rocky. Fin was pretty good throughout, but E'd in jumpers. Her team mates each made one mistake and it was doubtful that we'd make the cut off. But miracles do happen because Fins team came in with a few points to spare, and Fin is on her way to USDAA Nationals in November! Whoopteedo!

Next step, find someone, anyone, that wants to team up with me at Nationals!
